But the reality is quite the contrary. How do you even make it without shelter, food, and water? 1.     Water bottle

Get a nice water bottle strong enough to resist breakage. This is because while in the wilderness, you are exposed to a variety of harsh conditions including extreme heat. A durable bottle will ensure that you have a continuous supply of water.  Water is important as it will keep you hydrated and boost the functioning of your body system.

2.     A signaling tool

You will need a signal tool to help you with communication while in a survival situation. Whistles are the most appropriate once. The sound of a whistle in the middle of the wilderness can be heard from very far. It might just attract the rescue you would be looking out for. If you are lucky there may be other people around who will definitely help.

Another thing to use in place of a whistle is a mirror. A single flash coming from the signal mirror can be seen from far in the skies by an aircraft nearby. Such a flash in the sky is easy to identify by any pilot, therefore, attracting any possible help. Keep it safe from scratches that might interfere with its effectiveness.

During darkness, you will require a flashlight to provide you with light. You can also opt for some matches and a lighter in place. Using a flashlight to move around is much safer than a burning stick.  With a burning stick, you may accidentally cause a much big fire beyond your control.

Use the matches to light some fire which will keep you warm from the cold in the night. Lighting some fire is also known to scare away some wild animals which could be dangerous. Having a knife with you in a survival situation is of huge benefits than you can ever imagine. This could range from a pocket knife to the kitchen knife depending on your preferences. Opting for a knife which has all its blades intact is more ideal than a folding one.

Fixed blades knives are stronger and can perform multiple duties in comparison to folded ones. On the other hand, a folded knife is, good for your back up needs.

A knife with you can perform a number of tasks such as cutting ropes, cutting branches for shelter, creating weapons etc. Always keep your knife sharp and free from moisture to prevent it from rusting. While using the knife remember to cut things away from yourself to avoid any injuries. And yes! you can also take some hunting gear that keeps you further safe. 4.     Materials for a shelter

Opt for any kind of material available be it a large garbage bag. Making a safe shelter for yourself will help to keep you warm and dry. You can make a simple shelter using some wild ropes and leaves.

After that get some time off to look for food and water so that you do not starve. While in the shelter ensure to set up some big fire to keep warm and also to prepare something to eat. Having something for the stomach is great as your body will require more energy for the following day. Also, be careful in case an attack from wild animals. Keep your weapons near including the knife earlier mentioned.

5.     Changing clothes

Have some extra clothes to wear in case you become wet. This is because exposing yourself to cold makes your entire body to use lots of energy to function. You will also get prone to illnesses associated with the cold.  Being sick in a survival situation is the last thing you can wish for. Do not forget to keep your feet warm as well. For you to keep moving your feet need to be in perfect shape. So carry along some warmer socks to keep off the cold.

6.     First aid kit

While in the wilderness chances of getting hurt are many. Taking a first aid kit with you for survival is much wiser. If you do not take care of any injuries as fast as possible you will become more prone to infections.  This will largely interfere with your efforts to seek help because you will spend more time nursing them.

A good first aid kit will ensure that your injuries do not get out of hand. A functioning first aid kit should have cleaning wipes with alcohol, bandages, gloves, gauze, scope for target shooting  etc. It should also be easy to carry along to save your energy for other necessities.
